Information

The Forest View Acres Water District is dedicated to providing its customers with relevant and timely information regarding their services and any issues that may be of concern to the residents of the District. The District publishes several reports regarding the quality of the water and other documents and facts of interest to their customers. Among these items are Drinking Water Quality Reports and information on water utility locates.

Rates and Financial Information

The Forest View Acres Water District budget is balanced annually by the District Management working with the Board of Directors and approved by its Board of Directors. The budget is based upon the expenses incurred to provide water service to the District and to repair, maintain, and improve the infrastructure and facilities of the District to ensure that clean, safe water is produced and delivered to residents of the District. The District must deliver clean, safe water in statutory compliance to federal, state, and local laws.

District Facts

Forest View Acres Water District’s surface water source is in Limbaugh canyon. Surface water is susceptible to many forms of contaminants, such as bacteria, pesticides, industrial waste, algae and other organic materials. Surface water must be treated to meet the state and federal regulations for potable water. Forest View Acres Water District filters and treats its surface water at their Surface Treatment Plant before sending it to their storage tank.

The Forest View Acres Water District currently maintains one well that pumps water from the Arapahoe aquifer and one ‘dormant’, undeveloped well into the Dawson aquifer.

The Dawson aquifer well is about 740 feet deep and, when last tested in 2007, produced 40 gallons of water per minute.

The Arapahoe aquifer well is about 1,250 feet deep and produces volumes between 90 to 100 gallons per minute. The water from the Arapahoe well is treated at the Arapahoe Well Plant before being pumped to the District’s storage tank via the Booster Station (provides pumping power to ‘boost’ the water uphill to the tank).

The water is distributed to your homes in over xx miles of pipeline of various sizes and materials supported by one 250,000 gallon storage tank, that serves the 285 residential taps and 1,000 people in the Forest View Acres Water District.

A total of 18,616,623 gallons of water were used in 2006.

Less than 5% of indoor water usage and less than 1% of all water in public water systems is used for drinking and cooking. Varied estimates put the average indoor water use per person between 60 and 100 gallons per day.
